The 2017 Lincoln MKX has 5 recalls, the most serious being brake and fire risks: both the front and rear brake hoses can rupture and leak fluid, extending stopping distances, and on 3.7L-equipped models, a battery cable can short against a transmission bracket and start a fire.
On the safety equipment side, vehicles with 16-way electric tilt seats have a recall where a sensor interaction with the seat mechanism can cause the airbag to deploy without warning or fail to deploy in a crash. There is also a separate airbag concern where the driver's frontal airbag may not fully inflate or the cushion can detach from the module during deployment, reducing protection in a collision.
