The 1994 Lincoln Town Car has 4 recalls, all involving the brakes, with the most serious being a hairpin clip that may be missing or incorrectly installed where the brake pedal connects to the master cylinder, which can cause the pushrod to disengage and eliminate braking entirely without warning. The remaining two recalls address the rear brakes, and some vehicles with the Limousine Prep Package may be affected. The bolts and nuts that hold the rear brake backing plate to the axle housing can loosen and eventually fall off, damaging the parking brake assembly or the anti-lock brake sensor and ring. If that hardware separates, both the service brakes and parking brake can lose stopping power.
