The steering concern affects vehicles where the pitman arm ball joint was not properly lubricated at the factory. Over time, the joint can collect contamination and corrode until it wears through and separates entirely, leaving the driver unable to steer. On the brake side, rear brake lines on certain Livery Package vehicles can develop a condition that leads to brake fluid loss, reducing the stopping power of the rear brakes and extending the distance needed to bring the car to a halt. There is also a rear seatbelt concern: when rear belt assemblies were serviced, incorrect replacement parts may have been installed that lack the automatic locking feature needed to properly anchor a child safety seat. In a crash, a seat secured with one of these belts may not hold the child restraint in place.
