The 2022 Lucid Air has 26 recalls, the most serious being multiple issues that can cut drive power without warning while the vehicle is in motion, raising the risk of a crash. Several overlapping issues can cause sudden loss of drive power: the high-voltage battery contactors can open unexpectedly, the inverter power module can fail and shut down the drive motors, high-voltage connections can lose contact intermittently, and certain software states can trigger a power cutoff when a fault is detected. These issues are addressed across multiple recalls but share the same consequence for the driver. A separate concern involves the front suspension: a snap ring beneath the front strut damper can fail, causing a sudden drop in ride height or damaging the front brake line to the point of brake failure. On accessories, certain all-weather floor mats can catch the accelerator pedal and prevent it from returning, causing the vehicle to continue accelerating when the driver lifts off the pedal. On the visibility side, the rearview camera can fail to display or show a delayed image when reversing, the windshield wipers can loosen and stop clearing the glass, and the high-voltage coolant heater can fail to defrost the windshield. Display wiring can also be damaged by contact with the steering shaft, knocking out the speedometer, gear indicators, and warning lights. The rear heated seats can overheat if temperature monitoring fails, creating a burn risk for passengers.
