Summary
The Maserati Ghibli has 14 recalls covering 2014 through 2025 model years, with the most serious being a floor mat anchor defect on 2014–2016 vehicles where the anchor can break and allow the mat to slide forward, trapping the accelerator pedal wide open and making the vehicle very difficult to slow or stop.
On 2021–2022 models, the fuel line sensor housing can crack and leak fuel, which can stall the engine or, near an ignition source, start a fire. That same era has a separate concern for 2021 vehicles: rear seat belt retractors can deactivate earlier than intended, preventing a child safety seat from cinching down properly and reducing protection in a crash. The 2021–2025 model years are affected by a radio software issue where the rearview camera image fails to appear when backing up, reducing visibility behind the vehicle.
On 2017 models, the engine control module software can unexpectedly shift the vehicle into neutral or park, or shut the engine off entirely while moving at low speed. The 2017 model also has a rear differential pinion nut that can work loose, producing noise and vibration and eventually leaking differential fluid. The 2016–2017 model years share a tire concern: certain Pirelli P Zero All Season tires in size 275/40R19 can develop sidewall cracks that lead to air loss and potential tire failure while driving.
Going back to earlier production, 2015 Ghiblis from a narrow manufacturing window have front wheel bearings that can fail prematurely and degrade handling. The 2014–2015 model years have a fuel delivery hose that can leak fuel and pose a fire risk near an ignition source. On 2014 models specifically, a rear tie-rod bolt may not have been torqued properly and can loosen over time, and the transmission shift indicator may not adequately warn the driver that the vehicle has been left out of park. The 2021 Ghibli Trofeo with optional 21-inch tires has a tire placard that may show incorrect inflation pressures, which can affect vehicle stability.
