The 2024 Mazda CX-30 has 3 recalls, the most serious being two separate issues that can disable the airbags, leaving occupants without that protection in a crash.
One airbag issue stems from a software fault in the airbag control module that can trigger an error code and shut the system down during a low battery condition. The other occurs when the ignition is left in the "on" position long enough to drain the battery: once the battery is recharged and the vehicle restarted, the airbag warning light turns on and the airbags stop working. There is also a forward sensing camera defect that can knock out automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist at the same time, and prevent the headlights from switching down from high beams when oncoming traffic is present.
