The Mazda CX-50 has 10 recalls covering 2023 through 2025 model years, with the most serious affecting 2025 vehicles where steering and suspension fasteners may not have been properly tightened, allowing wheel hubs, tie rod ends, ball joints, and related hardware to loosen and detach, causing loss of steering control or wheel separation.
The 2025 model year carries several additional concerns. On 2025 Hybrid trims, the transmission shifter can be moved from Neutral to Drive without the brake pedal pressed, allowing the vehicle to roll unexpectedly. A forward sensing camera malfunction on 2025 models can disable automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam switching. Also on 2025 models, airbag control module software can be configured incorrectly, causing the airbag to deploy improperly in a crash.
On 2024 and 2025 vehicles equipped with a Mazda Genuine Accessory trailer hitch, the hitch assembly bolts can loosen and allow the entire assembly to separate from the vehicle while towing or driving normally, creating a road hazard.
