2004 MAZDA MAZDA3 Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2004 Mazda3 has 4 recalls, all involving the airbag system, with the most serious being a steering wheel emblem that can shatter and send plastic fragments into the cabin when the airbag deploys in a crash. The other airbag concern involves a crash zone sensor with a housing that can crack and allow water in, causing a short circuit. When this happens, the airbag warning light comes on and the front airbags may not deploy in a frontal crash, leaving the driver and front passenger without that protection. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve either issue, which is why multiple filings exist for each defect.
