The 2010 Mazda3 has 6 recalls, the most serious being two separate issues: the driver seat height adjuster can break or detach, causing the seat to shift position suddenly, and an engine wiring harness can short-circuit and stall the engine without restart.
The seat defect applies to vehicles equipped with a manual seat lifter, where the adjustment links can break away from the seat frame and leave the driver unable to hold a proper position. The wiring issue involves the harness running near the starter motor, where vibration can wear through the wire covering and cause a short that may also trigger engine control problems or rough shifting. There is also a liftgate concern: the rear hatch can lose the gas struts or support mechanism that holds it open, causing it to drop unexpectedly onto anyone standing beneath it. The last recall involves the daytime running light housing, which can be deformed by heat from the bulb during extended idling or slow traffic, eventually causing the bulb to come loose and the light to stop working.
