The 2007 Mazda6 has 4 recalls, the most serious being both front airbag inflators, on the driver and passenger sides, which can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
The passenger-side inflator issue has a longer history: prior repair attempts used replacement inflators of the same design, which means vehicles that were already serviced under an earlier recall are still affected and need attention again. On the fuel system side, certain vehicles built to California emissions specifications have a fuel tank whose exterior protective coating may have been damaged during assembly, leaving the metal underneath prone to corrosion. Over time, the tank can develop holes and leak fuel, which raises the risk of fire if a source of ignition is nearby.
