The 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA35 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the automatic emergency call system, which can either fail to connect to emergency services or transmit the wrong location after a crash.
The eCall issues mean that in a collision, the system may not summon help at all or may send responders to the wrong place, delaying medical assistance when it matters most. On the visibility side, two recalls address the rearview camera. A software issue in the MBUX multimedia system can cause the display to go black or reboot when the car is started, leaving the driver without a rear view when reversing. A separate software error can also cause the rearview camera image to simply not appear on screen when backing up. Both problems reduce the driver's ability to see what is behind the vehicle, raising the risk of a collision with a pedestrian, object, or other vehicle.
