The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C300 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving two airbag concerns: a driver airbag that can deploy without warning, and a passenger airbag inflator that can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin.
The steering system also carries a significant risk: a connecting bolt in the steering coupling may not have been tightened sufficiently, which can cause a sudden loss of steering control. On the electrical side, a software fault can prevent airbags from deploying correctly in a crash, reducing the protection they would otherwise provide. There is also a communication system recall where a software error causes the emergency call system to report an incorrect time and location, which can delay emergency responders from reaching the vehicle after a crash.
