The 2020 Mercedes-Benz E 450 has 7 recalls, the most serious being a fuel injector leak that can bring gasoline into contact with hot engine or exhaust components and start a fire.
The rear seating area has a structural concern: the left-rear seatback latch may not hold under load in a crash, allowing the seatback to fold forward and strike occupants. On the E 450 Coupe specifically, the front left seatbelt may have been installed in a way that lets the webbing rub against sharp metal, cutting into it over time and weakening its ability to restrain the driver in a crash. Three recalls relate to the vehicle's emergency communication system: a software fault can prevent the automatic crash notification system from activating, sending responders to the wrong location, or disabling the system entirely, any of which could delay help after a collision. There is also a software issue that can cause the rearview camera to go blank while reversing, reducing the driver's view behind the vehicle.
