2024 Mercedes-Benz E 450

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E 450 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving electrical fuses and wiring harness defects that can cause sudden loss of drive power, disable safety systems including airbags and the instrument cluster, or start a fire.

Two of the recalls are specific to 4MATIC variants. In those vehicles, the 12-volt and 48-volt ground connections in the wiring harness may not be properly secured, allowing them to overheat and potentially ignite. Separately from that, the transmission wiring harness on the same 4MATIC models may be routed too close to the driveshaft, where contact with the spinning shaft can wear through the wiring and cut drive power without warning. The fuse recall is broader and covers a wide range of Mercedes-Benz models: an 80-amp fuse can fail unexpectedly, which may cut power to the restraint system, the instrument cluster, or the drivetrain itself, leaving the driver without critical information or control in the middle of traffic.

On the software side, a bug in the MBUX infotainment system can quietly disable certain driver assistance features, including the cross-traffic alert that automatically applies the brakes when another vehicle crosses the vehicle's path at low speeds. This applies to E 450 Station Wagon and standard E 450 models, among other body styles in the broader recall group.
