The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E43 AMG has two recalls, both affecting occupant safety in a crash: the passenger seat sensor may not correctly detect a child seat in the front passenger position, leaving the airbag active when it should be suppressed and raising the risk of injury to a child in a forward-facing or rear-facing seat.
The second recall involves the seatbelt pretensioners and the pre-crash safety system, which tightens belts and repositions occupants in anticipation of impact. Both may fail to activate during a collision, reducing the protection the restraint system provides to front seat occupants.
