The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ has 3 recalls, the most serious involving an incorrect fuse box that can cause sudden loss of drive power or disable critical systems like the airbags and instrument cluster.
The fuse box issue stems from a prior repair that may have installed a component not designed for this vehicle, leaving it without reliable electrical protection. Separately, a manufacturing defect on certain vehicles means the mounting brackets near the roofline have sharp edges that can tear the side-curtain airbag during deployment, reducing the protection the bag provides in a side impact or rollover. There is also a software issue affecting the pedestrian alert system: the acoustic warning the car emits when reversing at low speed may produce an incorrect sound, which could fail to catch a pedestrian's attention in time to avoid a collision.
