The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE 580 has 7 recalls, the most serious being a fuel pump that can shut down without warning, cutting drive power and raising the risk of a crash, alongside a fire risk from a 48-volt ground cable under the front passenger seat that can overheat if not properly secured.
On the visibility side, the rear window may not be adequately bonded to the tailgate and can detach, becoming a road hazard. The multimedia system software can cause the backup camera display to go black or reboot at startup, leaving the driver without a rear view while reversing. Rear door window trim bars can also detach and fall onto the road. There is also a concern with the automatic crash notification system, which can become disabled and prevent the vehicle from contacting emergency services after a collision, potentially delaying a response. Finally, the emergency call system's failure to function means occupants may not be able to summon help in a serious crash.
