The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS550 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a front suspension oil leak that can reach an ignition source and start a fire.
Two recalls cover the emergency call system: a software fault can cause the system to transmit an incorrect date, time, or vehicle location after a crash, meaning emergency responders may be sent to the wrong place. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve this issue, and a second campaign addresses the same misdirected location problem in a broader range of model years. On the latch side, the center console can come unlatched in a crash, sending loose objects flying through the cabin and potentially striking occupants. There is also a door latch concern where a door that appears locked may unexpectedly open on its own, raising the risk of injury to occupants.
