The cruise control issue affects ML55 AMG models and certain other ML-Class vehicles from this era: a brake lamp switch plunger can seize in place, preventing the cruise control from canceling when the driver applies the brakes, which can make it difficult to slow the vehicle from a set speed. There is also a compliance recall related to the seat belt warning chime, which on certain vehicles sounds when the belt is already fastened rather than when it is not, giving the driver a false signal about restraint status.
