The 2024 Mercedes-Benz S 580 has two recalls, both rated equally serious: one where faulty 80-amp fuses can cut power to the airbags, instrument cluster, or drivetrain, and one where the rear differential can separate from its mounting. On the electrical side, certain 80-amp fuses were made incorrectly and can blow unexpectedly, which may cause a sudden loss of drive power or knock out critical systems like the restraint system or instrument cluster while driving. On the drivetrain side, bolts securing the rear axle differential to the axle carrier can come loose, allowing the driveshaft to separate from the differential and leaving the vehicle without power to the rear wheels.
