The 2000 Mercedes-Benz S Class has 4 recalls, the most serious being two separate fire risks: a climate control blower motor regulator that can overheat and ignite components under the dashboard, and a high-pressure hydraulic hose on 8-cylinder models that can corrode internally, leak fluid near the catalytic converter, and start an engine fire.
The remaining two recalls both involve the electrical system. A blower motor fuse holder with an undersized electrical conductor can generate more heat than the plastic holder can handle, melting the holder and disabling the climate system. There is also a concern with trunk floor mats that can build up static electricity and discharge when items are moved in or out of the trunk, potentially damaging electrical components including the battery.
