The 2025 MINI Cooper has 3 recalls, the most serious being a brake system defect that can reduce braking power, extend stopping distances, and disable the anti-lock brakes and stability control that help the driver maintain control in an emergency.

The brake issue stems from the integrated brake system, which manages power-assisted braking alongside the anti-lock brake and dynamic stability control systems. When it malfunctions, the brake pedal requires more force to slow the car, and in situations where wheel lockup or a skid would normally trigger automatic correction, the car may not respond as expected. There is also a separate but related concern with the electronic stability control module, which can fail in a way that cuts rear brake function entirely and further reduces the car's ability to stop or hold a line through a corner. On the safety equipment side, the front seatbelt retractors in both seats may have been damaged during production. A retractor that is not working properly cannot take up slack during a crash, which means the belt may allow more forward movement of the occupant than it should, raising the risk of injury.
