The molded fuel tank shell can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact a raised area inside the tank. This makes the fuel gauge incorrectly show about one quarter tank when the fuel tank is actually empty.

What the fix does

Dealers will replace the fuel level sending unit with a new one featuring a modified float arm that prevents contact with the tank shell.
