The 2021 Nissan Qashqai has two recalls, both rated at the same severity level: a seatbelt retractor that may not lock properly when securing a child seat, and a rear liftgate hinge that can fail and separate in a rear crash. On the restraint side, the automatic locking retractor in the passenger seatbelt may not engage correctly, meaning a child seat attached using that belt could shift or come loose in a sudden stop or collision. On the structural side, the rear liftgate hinges may not hold during a rear impact, causing the liftgate to open or detach and raising the risk of injury to anyone near the back of the vehicle.
