NISSAN VERSA NOTE Recalls

The Nissan Versa Note has 8 recalls spanning the 2014–2018 model years, with the most serious being an ignition system defect on 2017–2018 vehicles where the key can inadvertently turn and cut engine power while driving, stalling the vehicle and raising the risk of a crash. The 2018 model year has a separate side curtain airbag recall where a component inside the inflator can break loose during deployment and become a projectile inside the cabin. On 2017 models, the front passenger airbag cushion can separate from its mounting ring when the airbag fires, reducing its ability to protect the occupant and potentially directing the force of deployment in an unintended direction. Going back to the 2014 model year, there are two related structural issues affecting vehicles built in the spring of 2013: lower body sill bolts may be missing or not tightened correctly, which can reduce how well the body holds together in a rear impact. Separately, the rear seat latch bolts on these same early 2014 vehicles were manufactured with reduced strength, meaning the rear seat back can fail to stay in place during a crash and may not adequately restrain back seat occupants.
