Nissan Versa Note Recalls

The Nissan Versa Note has 12 recalls covering 2014 through 2019, with the most serious being a side curtain airbag inflator component on 2018 models that can detach during deployment and become a projectile inside the cabin, raising the risk of injury to occupants.

On the airbag side, 2017 models have a separate issue where the ring plate securing the front passenger airbag cushion can fail, causing the airbag to deploy incorrectly in a crash. The 2017 and 2018 model years also share a concern with the ignition system: under certain conditions the engine can stall unexpectedly, raising the risk of a crash. For 2018 and 2019 models, the backup camera can fail to display an image when reversing, removing rear visibility the driver would otherwise rely on.

Going back to 2015, a narrow production window produced driver-side front and rear door latches that may not fully engage, allowing a door to swing open while driving. The 2014 and 2015 model years have an accelerator pedal issue where the pedal can stick or return slowly, delaying brake application and lengthening stopping distances.

The 2014 model year carries several structural and seating concerns. Lower body sill bolts may be missing or undertightened on early production examples, which can reduce the vehicle's ability to manage forces in a rear-end collision. Separately, rear seat latch bolts on some 2014 vehicles were manufactured with reduced strength and can break in a crash, allowing the rear seatback to move forward and injure back-seat passengers.
