The 2017 Nissan Versa Note has 3 recalls, the most serious being an ignition defect that can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving, raising the risk of a crash.
The passenger frontal airbag also has a recall, and it represents the other significant concern here. A metal ring plate that anchors the airbag cushion to its housing may lack sufficient strength, and in a crash the cushion can tear free or deploy improperly rather than forming the protective shape intended. Either outcome reduces the airbag's ability to protect the front passenger and raises the risk of injury. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve this issue, which is why two separate filings address the same ring plate defect. Owners should confirm with a dealer whether both remedies have been applied to their specific vehicle.
