22 recalls across 22 model years
The Porsche Panamera has 22 recalls spanning 2010 through 2026, with the most serious recent issue being loose high-pressure fuel pump fasteners on 2024-2026 models that can allow fuel to leak near ignition sources and start a fire.
On the current generation, 2026 models have an air suspension strut retaining ring that can work loose, causing the strut to dislodge and the air spring to deflate, which can result in sudden loss of handling and control. The 2024-2025 model years have a rearview camera that can fail to display when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, and 2024 models have a software issue that can cause headlights to aim incorrectly while reversing, reducing the driver's forward visibility and creating glare for oncoming traffic.
Stepping back to the 2017-2021 era, humidity can enter the external coolant pump for the climate control system and cause an electrical short that overheats the pump and wiring, creating a fire risk. The 2021 model year has two separate child restraint concerns: the passenger-side seatbelt automatic locking retractor can fail to secure a child seat properly, and the rear seatbelt retractor can leave a child restraint unsecured in a crash. Also on 2021 models, front lower trailing arms that were not forged correctly can fracture, causing loss of vehicle control. The 2017-2018 model years have an electric power steering system that can intermittently drop assist, making the vehicle harder to steer, and front brake lines on certain 2018 hybrid variants can corrode and reduce braking ability. Across 2017-2018 models, the brake pad wear warning light can fail to illuminate when pads are worn down, leaving the driver unaware that stopping distances have grown. The 2018 model year also has an electrical issue that can impair driveability.
The 2016 model year has an airbag control unit with a defective power supply capacitor that can either disable the airbags entirely or cause them to deploy without a crash. Going back to the 2011-2016 range, an electrical system defect raises a fire risk, and a transmission gear position indication issue can allow the vehicle to roll unexpectedly if the driver exits without engaging park or the parking brake. Headlight aim on 2011-2016 models can be incorrect, reducing road illumination or causing glare for other drivers.
The earliest production years carry their own issues. The 2010-2012 model years have camshaft controllers that can come loose inside the engine and cause a stall. On 2010 models specifically, camshaft adjuster fasteners can fail, causing engine noise, vibration, and stalling, and front seatbelt mounting locks on the S, 4S, and Turbo can fail to hold when the seat is adjusted to an extreme position, leaving an occupant without adequate restraint in a crash.
