15 recalls across 12 model years
The Porsche Panamera Turbo has 15 recalls spanning 2010 through 2021, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2021 models where a front lower trailing arm can break without warning, causing sudden and complete loss of vehicle control.
On 2018 models, an electronic control unit can fail and trigger a sudden loss of engine power while driving, raising the risk of a crash. That same year, a separate electrical issue can impair driveability in a similar way. The 2017 through 2020 model years share a fire risk tied to the climate control system's external coolant pump, where humidity enters the unit and causes an electrical short that can ignite a fire. On 2017 and 2018 models, the rear suspension has two related concerns: a rear suspension component can shift unexpectedly and alter handling, and the anti-roll bar connecting links on 2017 models can detach and damage surrounding suspension parts, also affecting handling. The 2017 model year also has a rear outboard seat belt anchor that can pull free in a crash if the mounting screw was not properly tightened. Brake pad wear warnings on 2017 and 2018 vehicles may not function correctly, with the red warning light failing to illuminate when pads are worn down, leaving the driver without a clear alert.
Going back to the 2011 through 2016 era, an electrical short in certain vehicles raises a fire risk, and 2011 models have a second fire concern where water can enter the air conditioning blower control unit, causing it to melt or burn even after the vehicle is parked and shut off. The 2011 turbocharger turbine wheel can fail and, if driving continues, fracture the turbine shaft. On 2010 through 2016 models, a transmission gear position issue means the vehicle may roll away if the driver exits without confirming the transmission is in Park and the parking brake is set. The 2010 through 2012 model years have camshaft controllers that can come loose inside the engine and cause a stall. Headlight aim on 2010 through 2016 vehicles may be off, either leaving the road underlit or creating glare for oncoming drivers.
