The 2010 RAM 2500 has three recalls, with the most serious risks being a potential fuel fire on diesel-equipped trucks, a steering defect that can cause loss of directional control, and a transmission shifter that can allow the vehicle to roll away unexpectedly.
On 6.7L diesel models, an electrical connection at the fuel heater can overheat, causing a fuel leak that may ignite if a heat or spark source is nearby. On 4x4 trucks, the left front tie rod ball stud can fail and cause the front wheel to lose directional stability, reducing the driver's ability to steer. Trucks equipped with a column shifter have a separate concern: the transmission can be shifted out of park without the brake pedal pressed or a key in the ignition, which can allow the vehicle to roll on a slope without warning.
