The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek has 6 recalls, the most serious being an engine control module software fault that can keep the ignition coil powered after the engine shuts off, causing a short circuit and potential stall while driving.
A second engine-related recall involves the positive crankcase ventilation valve, which can break apart and send fragments into the engine, causing a sudden loss of power while driving. There is also a floor mat concern: an incorrect retention bracket can allow the mat to slide forward and interfere with the accelerator or brake pedal. On the suspension side, the rear stabilizer bracket bolts can loosen and detach over time, allowing the bracket to shift and reducing vehicle stability, which may produce a rattle from the rear before the bolts fully separate.
