The 2019 Subaru Legacy has 3 recalls, the most serious being a fuel pump that can fail while driving, causing the engine to stall and leaving the vehicle unable to restart.
Two of the three recalls involve the same low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank. When this pump stops working, the engine loses its fuel supply and cuts out without warning, which can leave the driver unable to restart or maneuver out of traffic. There is also a structural concern: spot welds on a duct beneath the cowl panel at the base of the windshield may not have been properly applied, reducing the overall rigidity of the body. In a crash, that reduced strength can increase the risk of injury to occupants.
