The Subaru Solterra has 8 recalls covering 2023 through 2026 model years, with the most serious being a wheel hub bolt defect on 2023 models where the bolts can loosen and allow a wheel to detach from the vehicle while driving, raising the risk of a crash.

On the most recent end of the production run, 2026 models have a recall where a fault in the high-voltage battery control unit can cause an unexpected loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. The 2023 through 2025 model years share two visibility-related issues: a software error can cause the rearview camera on vehicles equipped with the Panoramic View Monitor to freeze or go blank when shifted into reverse, and a fault in the HVAC system, such as a failed electric compressor, can disable both the defroster and defogger, reducing the driver's ability to clear the windshield and rear glass.

On 2023 models specifically, there is an overlapping defroster issue where a software problem can send the HVAC system into a failsafe mode, leaving the windshield defroster unable to clear the glass properly. A separate 2023-only recall covers a VIN labeling error that makes it impossible to identify the vehicle's make from the VIN alone, though this has no safety consequence. The wheel detachment issue noted in the lead also appears under a second filing covering the same 2023 model year defect, treated here as a single underlying problem.
