The 2024 Subaru Solterra has two recalls, both affecting driver visibility: one where an HVAC fault can disable the defroster and defogger, leaving windows fogged over in cold or wet conditions, and one where a software error can cause the rearview camera to freeze or go blank while reversing.
The defroster issue stems from certain electrical compressor failures that knock out the defrost and defog functions entirely, reducing the driver's ability to see through the windshield and rear glass. The camera issue affects vehicles equipped with the Panoramic View Monitor system, where the display can stop updating or show nothing at all when the vehicle is in reverse, cutting off the driver's view of what is directly behind the car.
