The 2023 Subaru Solterra has 7 recalls, the most serious being hub bolts that can loosen and allow a wheel to detach while driving, causing loss of vehicle control.
Two software-related recalls affect visibility. The windshield defroster and defogger can become inoperative when the HVAC system encounters a fault, such as a compressor failure, leaving the windshield fogged or iced over in conditions where clearing it matters most. On certain vehicles equipped with the panoramic view monitor system, a software error can cause the rearview camera image to freeze or go blank when the transmission is shifted into reverse, reducing the driver's view behind the vehicle. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the rearview camera issue, and an additional fix has been issued. The remaining recall involves a VIN labeling error that does not affect how the vehicle operates or its safety.
