The 2011 Subaru Tribeca has 7 recalls, the most serious being a defective front passenger airbag inflator that can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, risking serious injury or death to occupants.
The airbag inflator issue accounts for six of the seven recalls and represents the same underlying defect filed across multiple campaigns, some of which specifically cover vehicles registered in high-humidity states and territories where the risk is elevated. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue for all affected vehicles, which is why multiple campaigns exist. The remaining recall covers the hood latch and safety catch system, which can fail and allow the hood to fly open while driving, blocking the driver's forward view and raising the risk of a crash.
