4 recalls across 8 model years
The Suzuki DL1000 has 4 recalls covering 2008 through 2016 model years, all involving electrical faults that can stall the engine without warning while riding, raising the risk of a crash.
The most recent recalls affect 2014-2016 models and involve three separate electrical issues. On 2014-2016 examples, a wiring short circuit can cut engine power while riding. On 2014-2015 models specifically, the battery ground connection can develop poor conductivity due to corrosion, also causing the engine to stall and potentially preventing a restart. A separate issue on 2014-2015 models involves the ignition switch terminals, which can corrode if exposed to moisture such as salt water and cause a sudden loss of electrical power.
Going back further, 2008-2012 models are subject to an electrical system fault that can similarly stall the engine while the motorcycle is in motion.
