The Suzuki DL1000 has 4 recalls covering 2008 through 2016 model years, all involving electrical faults that can stall the engine while riding and raise the risk of a crash. The most recent recalls affect 2014 through 2016 production. On 2014-2016 models, a wiring short circuit can cut power to the engine unexpectedly. On 2014-2015 models, the ignition switch terminals can corrode when exposed to moisture such as salt water and cause a loss of electrical power, and separately, the battery ground connection can suffer from poor conductivity due to corrosion or improper mounting against the painted engine case, leaving the engine unable to restart after stalling. Going back further, 2008-2012 models have an electrical system defect that can similarly cause the engine to stall without warning while riding.
