The 2017 Toyota 4Runner has 5 recalls, the most serious involving two accessory components that can detach while driving: a roof rack on vehicles with the TFORCE package and a billet grille overlay on vehicles where one was dealer-installed, both of which become road hazards.
The remaining recalls center on labeling and a spare tire concern. Two separate recalls cover incorrect load capacity labels: one affects vehicles with a TRD wheel package where the gross vehicle weight rating on the certification label may be wrong, and another covers a broader group of vehicles where the load carrying capacity label itself may be inaccurate. In both cases, a driver relying on the label could unknowingly overload the vehicle. There is also a spare tire recall where the tire may not have been inflated to the pressure specified on the tire placard, which can affect how the spare performs if it is needed.
