The 2023 Toyota Prius Prime has 6 recalls, the most serious being a water leak into the rear door handle switches that can cause an unlocked rear door to swing open while the vehicle is moving. Prior repair attempts under an earlier campaign did not fully resolve this issue, and vehicles repaired previously will need an additional fix. On the visibility side, a software error in the optional Panoramic View Monitor system can cause the rearview camera to freeze or show a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse, reducing the driver's view behind the car. There is also a label recall affecting certain vehicles where an incorrect maximum cargo and passenger weight value printed on the placard could lead to the vehicle being overloaded.
