The brake system also has a concern: the brake booster pump can fail, stripping away the power assist that makes the brake pedal feel light and responsive. Without that assist, the pedal becomes significantly harder to press and stopping distances stretch out, raising the chance of a collision. When this happens, the dashboard will display a warning and an audible alert will sound, and the vehicle stability control system will shut off as well. On the visibility side, a connector behind the audio display unit may have been damaged during assembly, preventing the backup camera from turning on when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Without that rear view, the driver has less awareness of what is directly behind the vehicle while backing up.
