The 2007 Toyota Tacoma has 7 recalls, the most serious being a leaf spring that can fracture and puncture the fuel tank, creating a fire risk, and a seat heater heating element that can short circuit and also cause a fire.
On 4x4 models, the rear driveshaft can separate at a joint, drop to the road surface, and cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Two overlapping recalls address the driver's airbag: vibration from the steering wheel can damage the clockspring over time, and a flexible cable inside the steering column assembly can also degrade, either way leaving the driver's airbag disabled in a crash. On Access Cab models, repeatedly slamming the rear doors can loosen the screws holding the front seatbelt pretensioner in place, and if it detaches, the belt will not tighten properly in a collision. There is also a recall for vehicles with an optional tonneau cover, where the front panel's lock cylinder can bind in the open position and allow the cover assembly to separate from the truck while driving.
