The 2016 Toyota Tundra has 4 recalls, the most serious being a passenger knee airbag that may loosen over time due to incorrect mounting bolts, reducing its ability to protect during a crash. On the structural side, vehicles with the plastic rear step bumper share two related filings for the same issue: the resin brackets that support the bumper's step corners can crack after a rear impact without any visible sign of damage. If someone then steps on the corner, that section of the bumper can break away and cause a fall. Vehicles with chrome step bumpers are not affected. There is also a label recall covering certain vehicles where the load capacity sticker may not account for the weight of dealer-installed accessories, which could lead an owner to carry more weight than the truck is rated for.
