The 1977 Volvo 200 Series has 3 recalls, the most serious being a rear axle bearing on 264 and 265 models that can fail without adequate lubrication, allowing the rear wheel and hub to separate from the car while driving.
The other two recalls both involve the fuel tank. On 242, 244, and 245 models, a faulty fuel tank pressure control valve can allow excess pressure to build up inside the tank, which may cause hairline cracks to form. There is also a separate fuel tank concern on those same models where improper soldering near the drain plug can let fuel seep from the tank. Both conditions raise the risk of a fuel leak near potential ignition sources.
