The 2020 Volvo S90 has 3 recalls, the most serious being a high-voltage battery defect on plug-in hybrid models that can cause a short circuit and fire while the vehicle is parked and fully charged.
The low-pressure fuel pump can blow a fuse and fail without warning, cutting engine power and stalling the vehicle in traffic. There is also a software and hardware incompatibility in the automatic emergency braking system that can prevent it from detecting obstacles ahead and applying the brakes, leaving the driver without that safety net in situations where a collision might otherwise be avoided.
