The 2014 Volvo VAH has 3 recalls, the most serious involving a steering drag link ball joint that can corrode, separate, and cause a complete loss of steering control.
The drag link's protective boot can crack due to the angle of the ball stud, letting moisture and road grime reach the joint. Once corrosion sets in, the ball can pull free of its socket, leaving the driver with no steering. On the tire side, certain tires can fail prematurely under high-speed, heavy-load, or high-temperature conditions, raising the risk of a blowout and crash. The third recall involves the seatbelt buckle: on trucks fitted with IMMI L9 buckles, pressing the release button can leave the latch plate partially caught in the buckle, making the belt difficult or impossible to unlatch quickly in an emergency.
