This recall is for certain motorcycles equipped with an accessory detachable Tour-Pak luggage carrier conversion kit. The turn signal telltale may flash quickly when the Tour-Pak luggage isn't mounted, like when a bulb fails. As a result, you may not get warning when a turn signal bulb actually fails. Canadian regulations require a change in the turn signal flash rate when a bulb fails.
Note: This recall affects Harley-Davidson accessory Tour-Pak luggage carrier conversion kit part numbers 53000916 and 53000917. These parts may have been installed on new motorcycles or sold as accessory parts through Harley-Davidson dealerships.
Safety Risk
A turn signal telltale that doesn't work properly could cause you to be unaware when a turn signal bulb fails. Turn signals that do not work may cause a person not to recognize when you intend to turn or change lanes. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Harley-Davidson will notify registered kit owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to correct the wiring harness for the detachable Tour-Pak luggage carrier conversion kit. If you purchased this kit and installed it as an aftermarket accessory, you should contact your local Harley-Davidson dealer.
On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French.

This error does not affect vehicle safety.
