On certain motorcycles, the backlash split gear in the primary drive train could fail, causing damage to the clutch and adjacent components. If a failure occurs, metal debris could be scattered throughout the primary drive train, causing a loss of power to the rear wheel.
THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MAY BE INCORRECTLY ALIGNED AND/OR MAY EXHIBIT A BINDING CONDITION AT THE LATCH PIVOT. EITHER OF THESE CONDITIONS COULD PREVENT ADEQUATE ENGAGEMENT OF THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH. IN ADDITION, THE PRIMARY HOOD LATCH "POP-UP" LEVER MAY BE MISPOSITIONED AND COULD CAUSE THE HOOD TO APPEAR CLOSED WITHOUT BEING LATCHED. INADEQUATE ENGAGEMENT OF THE SECONDARY LATCH AND A MISPOSITIONED PRIMARY LATCH LEVER COULD RESULT IN HOOD FLY-UP WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.

Remedy
REPLACE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH, INSPECT PRIMARY HOOD LATCH, AND ALIGN OR REPLACE "POP-UP" LEVER.
THE COTTER PIN THAT RETAINS THE BRAKE CLEVIS PIN MAY HAVE BEEN OMITTED OR INCORRECTLY INSTALLED. IF THE COTTER PIN WAS OMITTED OR IF IT WERE TO FALL OUT OF THE CLEVIS PIN,THE VEHICLES' BRAKES WOULD BE SUBJECT TO FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING.
THE WIRING CONNECTIONS TO THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL SENSOR ON THE MASTER CYLINDER CAP WERE REVERSED DUE TO A DESIGN ERROR, RESULTING IN FAILURE OF THE SENSOR TO TRANSMIT A SIGNAL TO THE BRAKE WHEN THE FLUID LEVEL IS LESS THAN ONE-FOURTH FULL. THIS IS IN NON-COMPLIANCE WITH C.M.V.S.S. 105 - HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEMS.
THE CARBURETOR RETURN SPRING ASSEMBLY MAY FAIL. THIS COULD PREVENT THE DECELERATION OF THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THE DRIVER HAS REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. LOSS OF ACCELERATOR CONTROL COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GROUNDING BOLTS COULD BREAK RESULTING IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: LOSS OF POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP, LOSS OF FRONT AND REAR LIGHTING,LOSS OF WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WASHERS AND/OR LOSS OF INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING AND INTERIOR ACCESSORIES.
REAR SUSPENSION ATTACHMENTS MAY BE INADEQUATELY WELDED AND COULD SEPARATE FROM THE UNDERBODY DURING VEHICLE USE. THIS COULD CAUSE LIMITED MOVEMENT OF THE AXLE DURING ACCELERATION OR BRAKING AND MAY ADVERSELY AFFECT STEERING CONTROL.
THE ROCKWELL FF941 FRONT AXLES CONTAIN CRACKS AT THE FORGED ENDS WHERE THE STEERING KNUCKLES ARE ATTACHED BY THE KING PINS. THESE CRACKS MAY LEAD TO A FAILURE OF THE AXLE BEAM UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS AND RESULT IN SEPARATION OF THE WHEEL, TIRE, BRAKE ASSEMBLY AND STEERING KNUCKLE FROM THE AXLE CAUSING LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.
