Summary
The Acura RDX has 7 recalls spanning 2007 to 2025, with the most serious being a front driveshaft defect on 2021 models where the axle shaft can fail, causing a sudden loss of drive power or, if parked without the parking brake applied, allowing the vehicle to roll away.
The 2025 model year has an electric power steering software issue where the system can enter a failsafe mode and cause a sudden increase in steering effort, making the vehicle harder to control. The power steering warning light will illuminate if this occurs.
On the mechanical side, 2021 models have the driveshaft concern described above. The defect affects both front axle shafts and the risk is the same whether the shaft fails while driving or while parked on a slope without the parking brake engaged.
Going back further, 2017 models have a certification label printed with ink that can be wiped away with an alcohol-based solvent, removing tire and loading information from the door jamb sticker. On 2008 models, the certification label was printed with incorrect tire and rim size information. Neither label issue poses a mechanical hazard but both remove reference information the driver may need. The earliest recall covers 2007 models equipped with a dealer-installed accessory trailer hitch that was not properly welded, which can allow a towed trailer or load to separate from the vehicle while underway.
