The 2020 Acura RDX has 5 recalls, the most serious involving the front passenger seat's occupant classification sensor, which can misread the seat's occupant and cause the airbag to deploy unexpectedly during a crash, raising the risk of injury.
The remaining recalls fall into two themes: seatbelts and fuel delivery. On the seatbelt side, a manufacturing defect in the front seat belt buckle assembly can cause the buckle channel to interfere with the release button, preventing the buckle from latching properly. A seat belt that won't latch offers no meaningful restraint in a crash. On the fuel system side, the low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank can fail while the vehicle is being driven, cutting off fuel delivery and causing the engine to stall without warning. An unexpected stall at road speed, particularly on a highway or in traffic, leaves the driver with reduced braking and steering response and raises the likelihood of a collision.
