5 recalls across 11 model years
The Aston Martin V8 Vantage has 5 recalls covering 2006 through 2016 model years, with the most serious affecting 2011-2012 vehicles where updated transmission and engine control software can conflict with clutch settings, causing the transmission to drop into neutral or deliver abrupt gear shifts that raise the risk of a crash.
The 2010-2016 model years have a door unlocking mechanism that can fail to respond when the car has been locked from outside, potentially trapping an occupant inside the cabin. On the fluid side, 2011-2014 models with the 7-speed SportShift II transmission have a clutch fluid line connector that can crack and leak, leaving the transmission stuck in whatever gear it is in. The 2012 model year with the 6-speed Auto-Shift Manual transmission has a similar issue, where a hydraulic fluid line connector can break and cause the same loss of gear selection.
Going back to earlier production, 2006-2014 models share a seat heater recall with several other Aston Martin models of that era. The electronic control module for the front seat heaters can fail in a way that prevents the heaters from shutting off, allowing seat temperatures to climb until the seat material begins to smolder.
