The 1992 Buick Century has 3 recalls, the most serious being a transmission fault where the vehicle can remain in reverse even though the shift indicator reads neutral, causing unexpected rearward movement. The optional remote entry module can randomly trigger interior lights, door locks, or the tailgate release without any input from the driver, whether the car is moving or parked. If the tailgate release fires while the vehicle is in motion, the tailgate can swing open and an unbelted rear-seat passenger could fall out. On the transmission side, a binding component can also cause reverse band drag in drive gear, resulting in sluggish acceleration or slipping when shifting into reverse.
